For 2010, JVS offers three options for a Workum Intern:
1. JVS Senior Services: Adult Day Internship
JVS Senior Services offer a comprehensive array of services to help participants
remain in the community and enjoy their non working day.These services
strive to address the many unique needs of adults with disabilities.
Emphasis is placed on physical exercise, social interaction,mental
stimulation, and an individual plan of care. Interested participants
are also given the opportunity to pursue paid or volunteer work.
The Workum intern will be responsible for assisting participants who are senior
citizens with disabilities with their daily activities.

Activities will include:
- Plan and implement activities in the JVS facility
- Work one-on-one with persons with dementia
- Plan and implement community outings
- Assist with food preparation and serving lunch
- Participate with participants in art, music, large motor activities, etc.

The successful intern will be:
- Caring and patient with others
- Interested in meeting other people
- Able to work with a team of staff members
- Interested in working with seniors with disabilities.

2. JVS Day Habilitation Services Internship
JVS Day Habilitation Services offers a Work Adjustment program designed to assist
individuals in understanding the meaning, value, and demands of work,
modify and develop attitudes, personal characteristics, and work
behavior, and to develop functional capacities, as required in order
to assist individuals toward their optimum level of vocational development.
This is accomplished through a combination of performing jobs in
the JVS sheltered workshop and at JVS operated work enclaves in area
business, and participation in a variety of educational groups, when
work is not available. The ultimate goal of participation is that
the individual will reach a level where they can obtain and maintain
community-based employment.

Activities will include:
- Assisting individuals on the work floor with learning job tasks
- Assuring that work crews have adequate supplies
- Assisting VIP program with special Summer events
- Planning and implementing a Non-Work activity
|
The successful intern will be:
- Caring and patient with others
- Interested in meeting other people
- Able to work with a team of staff members
- Interested in working with seniors with disabilities

3. JVS Cincinnati Career Network Internship
JVS Cincinnati Career Network a program funded by the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati
is an individualized and supportive program serving the unemployed
or underemployed, and new Americans who are seeking a career change
or entering the job market for the first time. Applicants range from
college graduates to unskilled workers, teenagers to senior citizens.

The program offers:
- Assistance in evaluation of qualifications
- Assistance in realistic goal setting
- Assistance in resume and cover letter writing
- Personalized job search strategies
- Job leads
- Access to Internet/Job Bank
|
Intern Activities will include:
- Contacting prospective employers on behalf of individuals
- Assist Job Seekers with developing resumes
- Assist Job Seekers with designing a job search strategy
- Work on implementation and marketing of new ParnossahWorks Computer Program for
job matching
|
The successful intern will be:
- Willing to call potential employers on behalf of job seekers
- Interested in meeting other people
- Comfortable with computer and internet work
- Able to work with a team of staff members
