The Jewish Federation Workum Summer Intern 2016

Job Description: Assistant, Create Your Jewish Legacy and Legacy Flame

Description of Create Your Jewish Legacy and Legacy Flame:
Create Your Jewish Legacy (CYJL) is an initiative of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati to assist our local agencies and congregations in building their endowment funds, to ensure their long-term stability and sustainability. A team of professionals and volunteers from participating organizations receive training and materials to implement a legacy gift (endowment) program, for the benefit of their organization and the community as a whole. CYJL is modeled on a successful national program.

The Legacy Flame is a unique, legacy donor public recognition exhibit, located in the Mayerson JCC. Combined with a beautiful sculpture, this state of the art, egalitarian, community-wide exhibit honors legacy donors with a donor page in an interactive touchscreen database, including written statements, photographs, and video interviews, where donors tell their stories about why they made a legacy commitment to our local Jewish community.

Job Responsibilities:
The Workum Intern will be responsible for the coordination of many of the activities associated with the program and exhibit, including:

  • Research the history of Jewish Cincinnati to update the Legacy Flame, particularly to find photos and add captions to photos currently featured in the exhibit,

  • Lead efforts to increase accessibility of the Legacy Flame for the hearing impaired, including transcribing video interviews of legacy donors,

  • Scan photos and materials to be entered into the Legacy Flame exhibit, and

  • Data entry and file maintenance.

The intern will report directly to David Harris, Manager of the Create Your Jewish Legacy program, and work as part of the Development team
