Description of Organization:  The Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education is dedicated to teaching the Holocaust to promote diversity, tolerance and multiculturalism. The Center trains teachers and clergy, produces academic research, sustains permanent and traveling exhibits, and offers a variety of programs and educational resources for the Greater Cincinnati community.

Job Title: Holocaust Awareness Programs (HAP) Coordinator

Job Description: The HAP Coordinator will be the primary researcher and event planner for Holocaust Awareness Programs 2011: Art and the Holocaust.  In the 2011-2012 academic year, programming will focus on diverse forms of art and the Holocaust.  Specifically programs will explore arts during the Holocaust as well as the impact of the Holocaust on the arts.  Diverse partnerships will be sought to bring this theme alive in partnership with the local arts community. 

1. Research the topic of Art and the Holocaust. Think broadly about its many aspects.
2. Research to find and purchase books and resources that relate to the theme.
3. Identify potential speakers, programs, and events for HAP 2011-2012.
4. Contact scholars, experts, etc. to make concrete plans for HAP 2011-2012.
5. Secure partners within the community for HAP 2011-2012.
6. Form a HAP 2011-2012 planning committee with community members and leaders.
7. Plan a calendar of events for the year of programming
8. Additionally, the Workum intern will have the opportunity towards the beginning of their internship to support and participate in the Roma and Sam Kaltman Holocaust Studies for Educators.  A graduate course training area educators to teach the Holocaust. 

Qualifications:  This position requires an individual willing to take initiative and possessing a strong interest in history.  While the intern will receive direction, they should also have the ability to work independently and possess quality writing and research skills.  Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner required.  The student will have the opportunity to connect with area Holocaust survivors during this internship.

Supervision: The HAP Intern will be co-supervised by Sarah Weiss, Executive Director and Barbara Christensen, Director of Education. Weekly meetings will be organized to set objectives and monitor progress.  The HAP intern will work closely with the other staff at The Center, and will also have the opportunity to be independent and self-directed.
