Workum Intern for 2015

& Professionals of the AJA

The Workum Intern will contribute to the workings of a unique research center and
academic institution with an international reputation as the outstanding archival
resource on the history of United States Jewry.

Specific job responsibilities will be determined by the Workum Fellow and the
professionals of the AJA at the onset of the internship. The following is a list of possible
projects/areas of responsibility:

1. Assist in determining subject matter, researching, and writing for the AJA’s online
exhibit ( This may also include the
development of educational and public relations materials relating to specific topics.

2. Assist the Executive Director and the Director of Programs with projects, research,
and programs relating to special celebrations/topics (i.e. Jewish American Heritage
Month and exhibits relating to Jewish American history).

3. Assist Archivists in any research requests that arise during the summer including
those of the Executive Director, and visiting fellows.

4. All projects will allow the Workum Fellow to gain a level of familiarity with the vast
collection of documents, pictures, and objects of the American Jewish Archives.

Please Note: This internship would be most suited for those individuals who would like
to learn more about the inner workings of a nationally acclaimed archives and for those
who like to interact with fellow researchers, students, and archival professionals. Being a
well-rounded writer and having an interest in history, would be beneficial.
